Welcome! This website is my contribution to the ever growing DIY guitar effects community. My website is focused mainly on Fuzz pedals...which are considered by most to be the original effects pedals. Ever since I started playing guitar some nine years ago, I've been looking for the perfect fuzz for my style of playing. When I was a student of Electronics Engineering in college (now graduated), I thought it was time for me to make my own effects pedals, instead of having to purchase pedal after pedal, looking for just the right one. Now I can build and modify my own, for a fraction of the cost of a mass-produced pedal. Near the top of the page you will find the links to the different effects pedals that I have built or that I'm in the process of building. Each page has a description of the pedal, and whenever possible, a link to the page where I found the project so that you can build it yourself! Each page will also have pictures of the pedal during and after it's assembly. If you are interested in purchasing a complete and ready to play pedal, then check out the website of my new business...Axis Guitar Effects! Click HERE ! I hope that you enjoy your visit to Fuzz Central and all the free content provided. Thank you for visiting, and until next time keep building, my friends. Want to Contribute? If you have the schematic of a fuzz box that you don't see anywhere on this site, you can email the schematic to me by clicking HERE . Of special interest are Sola Sound/Colorsound, Vox, Arbiter Electronics/Dallas-Arbiter, Marshall, Shin-Ei, Park, and other effects manufacturers from the 1960s. Check out their forum for all things related to solid state guitar amps. Recent Updates Thursday January 4, 2007 I hope that everyone out there had a happy and safe New Years! Welcome to 2007...let's try to make this year a little better than the last! Sunday December 24, 2006 Fuzz Central wishes a Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! :0) Wednesday December 6, 2006 I would like to wish all of our Finnish visitors a happy Itsenisyyspiv! Today is Finland's Independence Day. Happy 89th Birthday Finland! May you have an infinite number to come in the future! Thursday November 23, 2006 Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the US! Monday November 13, 2006 The new Fuzz Central Guestbook is up and running. Be sure to sign the guestbook on your way through! Feel free to sign it every time that you visit, too! Sunday November 12, 2006 This evening I have posted a new PCB and Layout for the Arbiter Fuzz Face. The new Fuzz Face PCB and Layout that I have drawn is based on the Axis Face circuit board, which is quite possibly the smallest and most compact Fuzz Face circuit board available. The layout also uses a 10K trimpot on the collector of Q2 so that that biasing can be adjusted precisely...around -4.5VDC to -5VDC. It also features a 2.2M input pull-down resistor to prevent "true bypass pop", a 100uF power supply filtering capacitor and a 1N4001 reverse polarity protection diode to help protect the circuit from accidental reverse polarity power supply connections. Thursday November 9, 2006 Fuzz Central has moved to MUCH faster ad-free hosting, thanks to the very generous offer from the administrators of ssguitar.com . I also redesigned the HTML files for the website, incorportating PHP for the very first time, which will help to speed up the loadig of the pages as well as making general website maintenance much easier for me. Enjoy the new site! Monday, June 20, 2005 This evening I've added the Liquid Drive to the Pedals for Sale page. If you're interested in picking up the original Liquid Drive for a bargain, check it out! Tuesday, January 25, 2005 This afternoon I've posted Axis Face Silicon Revision 3! Check out the Axis Face Silicon project page to see the whole article! Lots of really nice improvements to this version of the circuit...who needs Germanium transistors in the circuit when Silicon can sound so good! I've also added some new PCB and Layout files to the Tremulus Lune page. Tuesday, November 30, 2004 This evening I've added some more modifications to the Ross Compressor page, given to me by Mark Hammer. This mod increases the treble response of the pedal so that it's not as muddy when the pedal is on. It's a quick and simple mod that really improves the tone! I've also added the scematic of the Vox MKII Fuzz to the Sola Sound ToneBender MKII Professional page. It's nearly the same as the MKII Professional with only a few minor component value changes. Thanks to Peter for sending me the schematic of the Vox MKII that he traced from his original 30 years ago! Wednesday, November 24, 2004 Today I've corrected some information on the Sola Sound ToneBender 3-Knob project page, and I've also added the schematics of two more versions of the pedal, the Park Fuzz Sound 3-Knob and the Vox ToneBender MKIII. Thanks to Stuart Castledine for providing me with this great new information and also for the schematics for the two new circuits! Everyone in the United States have a happy and safe Thanksgiving tomorrow! For best viewing, please set your monitor resolution to 1280 x 1024. Copyright © 2001-2011 Phillip Bryant.
